Wednesday, May 27

Pop Life (weekly event)
It’s the most popular social networking event on a Wednesday night. Starts after work but runs past midnight. This week features “Mixed Media,” a mixer for members of the media from 6 to 9 p.m. Music by DJ Technics. Presented by Creative Loafing and The Sol Kitchen. 6 p.m.-1 a.m. Free. Alive After Five (weekly event)
The newly combined Alive After Five is now at its new home, the EpiCentre. Enjoy live music by this week’s bands, Frontiers and Big Ed’s Garage. Both levels will be rocking and there’ll be plenty of drinks from cash bars scattered throughout. Wristbands get you into Blackfinn, Whisky River, Suite, and StrikeCity. 5-9:30 p.m. Free. Island Vibe Nights

Friday Afterwork Rendezvous (weekly event)

Gucci Mane and Shawty Lo

Hip Hop M.O.V.E. (Music Over Violent Entertainment) Takeover
This community event features teen performances, a hip-hop workshop, and a film screening of Young Lives. Hip Hop M.O.V.E. is an initiative that empowers teens to positively influence their community through music, education, and creative self-expression. Charlotte FemmeFest 2009
This second annual festival celebrates women in the arts, featuring national, regional, and local female songwriters, visual artists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers. Proceeds from the event will benefit the ECO Center for Women. Experience NoDa at its fullest as venues include Neighborhood Theater, Dolce Vita, Prevue, Wine Up, Smelly Cat Coffeehouse, the Evening Muse, and several art galleries. 5:30 p.m.-1 a.m. $15 in advance, $20 day of. Men in the City Bachelor Auction and After-party
